My labor of love. My little dream of becoming a photographer is coming true. I’m so excited to share my journey with you on this blog of what I have dreamt about for years! If you will indulge me… this seed was a planted long before I knew anything about aperture, depth of field, ISO, composition and a bunch of other scary “photog” terms. I have always known I love to take pictures. I just did NOT know exactly how to go about making this thing in my head become a reality. The truth is I wasn’t willing to ask God to help me.
It wasn’t until I heard Steven Furtick preach on his book, Sun Stand Still, at our church last year that I really began to understand what I needed to do. His book outlines how we can should audaciously ask God to prove himself and fight our battles for us (whether it’s insecurities, fears, physical ailments, getting our kids to clean their room without a screaming match, you get the picture)… to boldly expect a miracle from God, just as Joshua did when he asked God to make the sun stand still during his battle (Joshua 10:12). You see, my battle was within me, inside my head, giving myself excuse after excuse why I couldn’t do this. You name it, I thought it! I was too old to start something new, I already had a full-time job, I didn’t have the right equipment, cameras are expensive, had no formal training, not enough hours in the day, parental duties could get in the way, and on and on. But I know from Joshua 1:5 that God will never leave me or forsake me. All I needed to do was just act.
So… I have made my move, listening for God’s call and seizing the opportunity set before me (and doing a LOT of learning in the process).
I’d like to say a quick thank you to my family and friends who have given me unconditional support and prayers this past year. You know who you are and I am eternally grateful!
To my husband and beautiful daughter, I could not do any of this without you. You are my shining stars.
To the many photographers who have mentored me and graciously guided me along this path of starting a new business, I am forever in your debt.
To my previous clients (who I now call my friends), you are my inspiration and it’s been an honor for me to play a small part in making memories for your families.
And to my new clients, I am excited for this new beginning, to create treasures that you can hand down for generations, and to make new friends along the way.
I hope you will come back often and say Hi! And visit me on facebook.com/MissyMoorePhotography. Every blog post deserves a picture, so with that, enjoy this little nugget.
